Frequently
Asked Questions
How long
will my photo session take?
It depends.
General in-studio sittings last about 45 minutes to an
hour. Senior sessions may last as long as three
and a half hours, depending on the session. Engagement and bridal sessions may last as
long as an hour and a half. With newborns or small
children, we work at their pace. We take breaks
for play or feeding, changing, etc. It takes us
very little time to take your photo, but it takes longer
to capture YOU.
What
should we wear?
For most sessions we
suggest casual clothing that is comfortable. For
in-studio sessions, it is hard to do better than the
classics - white shirts with jeans or black shirts with
jeans. We can discuss your clothing in detail when
you book your session. There may be a particular
look you want in your portraits that would be enhanced
by a particular clothing.
Seniors should wear
clothing that defines them.
Children should
wear simple - overalls with no shirt, jeans and a simple
top, something comfortable. As a rule, solid
colors always work best!
How
long does it take to get my proofs?
Normally your proofs are available for viewing within
two weeks of your session. The exception would be
weddings, when it takes 3 - 4 weeks for wedding proofs.
For most sessions, we use projection, or video proofing.
We'll go over this with you at your image creation
session.
When will
my order be ready?
Your order will
normally be ready for pickup 7-10 days after you place
your order. Special or large size prints may take
slightly longer. Expedited order processing is
available at a 25 % surcharge. Same day processing
is also available for a 50 % surcharge.
Do
you shoot in color or black and white?
We shoot all of our
session using state-of-the-art digital equipment.
This means that once we capture the image, we are free
to make it color, or black and white, or use a wide
variety of digital enhancements.
Can I bring my dog/cat to the session?
The short answer is
"Probably". When you book your session, we can discuss
your specific requests.
Can
my photos be posted on-line for friends and family to
see and order?
Yes. For general
sessions, there is a nominal $10 fee for on-line
posting, and for weddings there is a $20 charge for
on-line posting. Our on-line site includes a
shopping cart which allows family or friends to order
directly from the studio, leaving you out of the "order
gathering" process!
How will my photos be delivered
to me?
Anything 11x14 or
larger, except for special "poster prints", will come
dry mounted ready for framing. Wallets come in a
sheet of 8, uncut. We can cut your wallets for you
a nominal fee of $3 per sheet. Why don't we cut
our wallets? Several reasons. When cut,
wallets become easier to lose. If they are cut
just before they are slide into a purse, wallet,
invitation, etc. they are easier to keep track of. Sometimes wallets are put into
holders or frames that are a non-standard size. By
pre-cutting the wallets, it makes it more difficult for
you to trim "just a sliver" than if they are still full
sheet size.
Do
you offer gift cards?
Yes! Gift
certificates are a great way to say "Happy Anniversary",
"Congrats on your new baby!", or just "I love you".
Gift cards are available in $50.00 increments
beginning at $50.00.
